Wyre gears up for Fleetwood Triathlon

Published on Monday 20th September 2010

Fleetwood Triathlon is back for a second year.

Five hundred registered entrants are gearing up for Sunday 26 September when they will swim 400m at Fleetwood Leisure Centre, cycle 12 miles along the Esplanade and run 5km along the prom. There is also a smaller competition for juniors.

Entry is now closed, but locals are being invited to cheer on the athletes from 8am until around 2pm.

As a result, the Esplanade will be closed from 7.30am to 3.30pm between the North Euston Hotel and Laidleys Walk, as will Princes Way and Fairway. Local diversions will be in place. This will in turn mean no access to and from the car parks at Marine Hall and the sports centre, Central Car Park, Princes Way, the Model Yacht Pool and the miniature golf course.

Fleetwood Triathlon is organised by Fylde Tri Club and supported with volunteers by Wyre Borough Council's Tryvolunteering programme.
