Join us in celebrating National Democracy WeekPublished Monday, 02 July 2018
National Democracy Week takes place this year from 2-8 July. As part of the campaign, we are encouraging residents in Wyre to make sure that they are registered to vote.
Regardless of who we are or where we are from, we must work together to ensure that every member of society has an equal chance to participate in our democracy and to have their say.
The first day of the celebrations marks the 90th anniversary of the 1928 Equal Franchise act which gave women the same rights as men to vote.
National Democracy Week, is a week-long celebration of democracy in society. It’s an opportunity to celebrate progress and champion future democratic participation in this historic centenary year of suffrage.
You don’t need to re-register for each election, but you will need to if you’ve changed your name, nationality or address.
Make sure you’re registered to vote in Wyre by visiting www.wyre.gov.uk/registertovote
National Democracy Week is being delivered in collaboration by the National Democracy Week Council members, the Cabinet Office and partners across the country.
