Half term family fun in Wyre

Half term family fun in Wyre Published Monday, 21 May 2018

With summer fast approaching and the weather warming up we’ve got lots in store this half term for families to enjoy.

At Memorial Park there’s five great events to choose from. First up is a poppy craft workshop on Saturday 26 May from 12pm to 3pm. Drop into the workshop and help create this summer’s ‘in bloom’ display with Fleetwood Town Council. The workshop is free, all materials are provided and children must be accompanied by an adult. If you would like more information about the workshops, please call Fleetwood Town Council on 01253 872444.

Then on Tuesday 29 May there will be forest school taster workshops at 12pm to 1pm (ages 2 -5) and 1.30pm – 2.30pm (ages 6-9). Forest School is a unique and inspirational learning experience that improves self-esteem, confidence and abilities. This taster session is an opportunity for families to experience a forest school session together at Memorial Park. The sessions are £3 per child and will include an environmental activity, snack time around the camp fire (included in ticket) and an opportunity for play and discovery in the woodlands!

Next there’s an Xplorer challenge on Thursday 31 May from 1pm to 3pm. It’s just 50p and there’s no need to book. Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity for children and their families. Children will enjoy using a simple map to complete the navigational challenge. To take part simply register, collect your map and answer sheet and off you go. Find out more at www.xplorer.org.uk .

Why not join the ‘spin doctor’ at the park on Friday 1 June from 12pm to 3pm and create a crazy painting using his Cyclo-Graphic Splodge-A-Matic spin painting machine. It’s first come first served and places are limited so be sure to turn up early.

Rounding off the week at Memorial Park are kite workshops on Saturday 2 June from 11am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 2.30pm, which are £3 per child. Join the Memorial Park team and craft your very own kite to fly in the park!

Meanwhile at Wyre Estuary Country Park in Stanah there’s a creepy crawlies workshop on Tuesday 29 May from 10.30am to 12pm. Discover the wonderful world of creepy crawlies with Wyre’s rangers. The sessions are £2.50 per child. There’s also an Xplorer challenge that you can take part in Saturday 2 June at Wyre Estuary Country Park from 11am to 3pm.

Plus there’s a number of beach craft sessions taking place at Rossall Point Tower. Enjoy fun craft activities using drift woods and beach treasures on Friday 1 June. Drop-in sessions are £2.50 per child and will run from 11am to 3pm and the last one starts at 2.30pm.
