Pop to the Mount for a cuppa this half termPublished Monday, 05 February 2018
Wyre Council is inviting you to its pop up tearoom at the Mount Pavilion’s lodge on Friday 16 February. Come along for a free cuppa and cake as the doors are opened from 12pm to 4pm.
See the lodge in its unrestored state and learn about its past history as a cottage with a secret downstairs!
Councillor David Henderson, Leader of Wyre Council and Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, Parks and Open Spaces comments, “The doors to the lodge have rarely been open to the public and our plan is to bring the building into active use as part of a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to transform the landward side of the Mount. The popup will help us see what the community think about having a tearoom here in the future.”
Families can also come and enjoy the Beaufort Games Trail and play games inspired by the weather. This is a self-guided activity available on Friday and throughout the weekend and is suitable for all ages. Collect a Beaufort games code pack from the lodge on Friday, or from the Tourist Information Centre at Marine Hall or just come along and play!
The lodge is located at the town centre side of the Mount, at the end of London Street.
The Mount is currently undergoing a revival as Wyre Council has restored the seaward side of the Grade II registered gardens to their original 19th century design. A bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to transform the landward side including pavilion, rose garden and gate lodge is also being developed.
