Wyre Council elects new leader

Following a meeting of full council on Thursday 7 December, Wyre Council has elected Councillor David Henderson as leader of the council.

In his speech at the meeting, Councillor Henderson commented: “It is a great honour to be elected as leader if the council. I would like to thank Councillor Alan Vincent for the excellent job he has done as interim leader.”

Councillor Henderson also confirmed cabinet positions for the future, “I would like to welcome Councillor Michael Vincent to the cabinet who will take responsibility for Health and Community Engagement.

“It is my intention to retain my responsibility as portfolio holder for Street Scene, Parks and Open Spaces in addition to my duties as leader. All other positions will remain the same.

“I will endeavour to work with all 50 councillors but I will work to ensure that as an organisation we have a prolonged period of calm and stability and continue to deliver excellent services to our residents.”
