Get voting for Fleetwood Market

Published on Monday 6th December 2010

Forget X Factor, Strictly and the Jungle. The hottest vote in town right now is for Fleetwood Market.

Wyre's bastion of value is in the running for Britain's Favourite Market, subject to a public vote online.

So owner Wyre Borough Council is urging everyone who has ever enjoyed shopping there, lives in the borough, or just wants some deserved prestige for Fleetwood, to get clicking.

Where many other markets are failing or closing because of recession, Fleetwood Market is going from strength to strength, attracting coach trips from all over the country among its many shoppers. Occupancy is now almost 100 per cent with a waiting list. Winter trading days have also been extended to meet demand.

Market Manager Julian Brent said: "One of the main reasons the market is so popular is that we really do have something for everyone among its 250 stalls.

"As a shopper once said to me 'If you can't find it in Fleetwood Market, it's not worth buying.'

"Winning this title would be a real bonus, because it would underline what we already know and would encourage even more people to pay us a visit. And that can only be a good thing for the wider economy."

Casting your vote is free and takes seconds. You don't even have to enter any personal details. Just go to http://www.nabma.com/, click on the apple icon and follow the instructions, then ask all your friends to do the same. The poll closes on 13 January 2011 and the winner will be announced on 27 January.
