Ageing Well in Wyre

In January 2009 a Strategy and Action Plan for older people was produced and introduced. The Strategy was reviewed during 2012  and the new Strategy and Action Plan was adopted in January 2013 to provide assistance to all people aged over 55 to live happy, fulfilled and supported lives by providing comprehensive access to services and clubs available in Wyre."

Covering 283 square kilometres and with a population of almost 108,000, one of our greatest challenges and an untapped asset is that we have a significant concentration of older people. We have the highest density of population aged 85 or over in Lancashire.

Working with older people we aim to create new services, designed with them, for them. We are re-shaping services and working in partnership with community organisations in order to respond to our changing demography. One of our top priorities is to help older people remain active, healthy and independent
