Core Strategy
Shaping the future from fells to shore
Wyre's Core Strategy sets out a vision for growth and development of the entire borough over the next 16 years, including where new homes, employment and shops will be located as well as which areas will be regenerated and conserved
Public Consultation on the draft Core Strategy Preferred Options was undertaken between 2 April and 21 May 2012 along with the accompanying Sustainability Appraisal, Habitat Regulations Assessment and Infrastructure Delivery Plan.

Hard copies of the draft Core Strategy Preferred Options are available at several locations. A leaflet also summarised the key content of the Core Strategy.
A Statement of Public Consultation shows how comments that were received regarding the previous draft of the Core Strategy have been taken into account in drafting the Preferred Options document.
The Preferred Options document took a wide range of evidence into account during its drafting. Included amonst these are:
An Infrastructure Delivery Plan sets out what additional services and infrastructure are needed to support proposals contained in the draft Core Strategy.
A Sustainability Appraisal (and a separate Non Technical Summary) assesses the social, economic and environmental impacts of the draft Core Strategy and has been integral to its preparation.
A Habitat Regulations Assessment Screening Report has also been undertaken as the first stage in assessing the likely impacts of the draft Core Strategy upon European designated wildlife sites.
What Happens Next?
All comments received during public consultation are being taken into account and the Core Strategy is now being redrafted and will be renamed the Wyre Local Plan - Strategy and Core Policies. There will be further public consultation before the Local Plan is assessed by a government appointed planning inspector. If the document is approved, it will then be adopted as council planning policy.
